Here is the latest Manchester United transfer news including updates on Arturo Vidal, Patrice Evra and Mats Hummels.
Patrice Evra is expected to complete his move to Juventus by the end of this week in a reported £1.5m deal, despite signing a new one-year contract extension recently with the club.
From United’s perspective, letting Evra leave wouldn’t have been for the money so either the Frenchman wanted a new challenge or Van Gaal didn’t want him in the squad, the latter of which would be a surprise given how much experience has already left this summer in Vidic, Ferdinand and Giggs.
What Evra’s imminent departure does do is open up negotiations with Juventus which could see United make progress with regards to Arturo Vidal. That being said, James Ducker from The Times reported last night that United balked at a £36m asking price for Vidal.
It would be baffling if United weren’t willing to pay that figure for one of the world’s best box-to-box midfielders, especially when you consider we spent £27.5m on Marouane Fellaini.
The Guardian have continued the Angel di Maria links and suggested he is one of Louis van Gaal‘s biggest priorities after the World Cup. Jamie Jackson also says Mats Hummels feels United is an attractive proposition, opening up the door for a move.
