Manchester United have balked at Juventus’ £36m asking price for Arturo Vidal, according to James Ducker at The Times.
Price was always going to be the major factor hindering any United move for Vidal this summer but if anything, Vidal would be a steal at £36m. As such, the reports from Ducker have left most United fans scratching their heads.
Given that United paid £37.1m for Juan Mata back in January, a luxury player who was not a necessity, it would be madness if United were not willing to pay £36m for one of the most complete box-to-box footballers in the world. He’s worth that much and plenty more.
One strange thing to note about Ducker’s article is that the comments about Vidal were added onto the end of an article discussing Patrice Evra and Ricardo Rodriguez. News as big as United turning their nose up at a price for Vidal would surely be worthy of a separate article? That being said, Ducker has a strong reputation.
Ed Woodward has done very well in the transfer market with the signing of Herrera and Shaw but missing out on Vidal over small change would ruin it all.
