Van Gaal’s post-match comments show why Manchester United fans will love him

Louis van Gaal‘s Holland bowed out of the World Cup last night on penalties to Argentina.

Regardless of the result, it was a very good achievement for them to even reach the semi-final given they were expected to be eliminated at the group stage.

For Manchester United fans, it means Van Gaal will be back at Carrington at least a day earlier than if he had won and in his post-match press conference, Van Gaal showed one reason why United fans will love him.

Van Gaal controls the media, it isn’t the other way around and his post-comments after the Argentina defeat were great entertainment.

Here’s what the Dutchman had to say to the press:

The British press will be already quivering at the knees about interviewing Van Gaal next season won’t they?

(Van Gaal managed Romero for a couple of years back in the Eredivisie with AZ Alkmaar)

He’s got a point.

Van Gaal is on the money with regards to the 3rd/4th place play-off game being a waste of time as there is nothing but pride to play for, something which seems trivial when you have been knocked out of the World Cup only a few days before.

There are so many reasons to be excited about Van Gaal next season but the way he controls the press like Fergie used to means he’s going to be fascinating to watch this year.
