Updates with regards to Arturo Vidal’s current situation with Juventus are coming thick and fast and the latest claims from The Telegraph’s Jason Burt say the Serie A champions are eyeing Tottenham’s Paulinho as a potential replacement.
Burt, who broke the Juan Mata to United story, believes that Paulinho moving to Juventus would allow Vidal to move to Old Trafford but feels Daniel Levy would drive a hard bargain for the Brazilian and demand around the £25m mark.
From Juventus’ perspective, Paulinho is a big drop from Vidal but they are unlikely to be able to find a like-for-like replacement in terms of player quality this summer.
From United’s perspective, it’s another piece of the puzzle that would fall into place were Juventus to sign Paulinho as a replacement.
At this moment in time, reports are widespread in Chile, Italy and England about Vidal and Manchester United but there has been no movement, largely in part due to Louis van Gaal‘s involvement in the World Cup.
Now that the Dutchman returns to Old Trafford on Wednesday, there could be some movement either way regarding any Vidal transfer before the club sets out for the US Tour on 18 July.
