Manchester United have taken highly rated and sought after Benfica duo Joao Filipe and Joao Virginia on trials according to Sky Sports.
The youngsters, who are both Under-16, have been heavily linked to a plethora of Premier League clubs including United and will come on trial with the possibility of a permanent move to Old Trafford if they are successful.
It’s a testament to his talent at such a young age that winger Filipe has been labelled the ‘next Cristiano Ronaldo’ and goalkeeper Virginia is also highly rated for somebody so young.
Sky Sports have reported that Barcelona’s approach for the duo was rejected but United were given the go ahead which is great news for the academy.
Bringing in the best youngsters from around Europe is as crucial for the development of a rounded academy as it is for local lads to be brought through the ranks because in recent years, some of United’s best academy graduates have been imports, such as Paul Pogba, Mats Moller Daehli and Adnan Januzaj.
