Manchester United academy star James Wilson has broken his finger in training.
The 18-year-old was thought to be among the contenders to be in the squad for the pre-season tour to America but he has instead stayed behind with the Under-21s squad.
The striker started in a pre-season friendly against Southport for the reserves earlier this week with a heavily bandaged finger and played 45 minutes in preparation for what could be a defining season.
He has continued to play despite his injury and it clearly hasn’t managed to dampen his ability in front of goal as he has scored this evening in a pre-season friendly with the Under-21s.

Wilson burst onto the first team scene towards the back end of last season when he was handed his Premier League debut by interim manager Ryan Giggs where he scored twice against Hull in a 3-1 win at Old Trafford.
According to reports, Louis van Gaal has blocked loan inquiries for the youngster but as discussed previously by The Peoples Person, this could be so Van Gaal can watch him for himself before deciding where the youngster will play next season.
