Real Madrid are placing an €80m price tag on Angel di Maria according to Spanish newspaper Marca in a move that would end any interest Manchester United had in bringing the winger to Old Trafford.
Di Maria, 26, was considered surplus to requirements at Real Madrid last season before an end of year surge thrust him back into their first team but he is now once again being heavily linked with an exit from Madrid.
Following the arrival of James Rodriguez, the Argentinian is more than likely going to be the big name exit Madrid this year in order to help fund the move for Rodriguez, much like Mesut Ozil was last year for Gareth Bale.
If Di Maria was to be sold for that much, he’d become the most expensive player ever to be sold by a club in La Liga but for someone who Madrid are all too happy to see leave for the right price, it’s a massive price tag.
There’s not a chance United would be willing to fork out so much money on a player, especially one who has a tendency to go through hot and cold patches. Louis van Gaal is clearly looking to make more additions at United before the transfer window closes but at the price, Di Maria certainly wouldn’t be one of them.
