Manchester United made it two wins from two games in the Milk Cup with a comfortable 3-0 win over Co. Armagh.
It was a relatively slow start for United in their second game in comparison to Monday’s annihilation of the Gold Coast Academy.
Marcus Rashford had a couple of chances early on but was unable to open the scoring. However, United took the lead though after 17 minutes when trialist Ogo Obi crossed in for Jordan Thompson to score a beautiful volley.
Obi grabbed a second assist five minutes before half time, finding Demetri Mitchell in the six-yard box. Mitchell controlled, turned and finished to give United a two goal lead at the break.
Mitchell almost got a second after the restart when Rashford’s flick sent him through on goal, but unfortunately his drive went wide. Then Callum Gribbin chipped the ball into Rashford’s path and he cleared the Co. Armagh keeper, but also cleared the crossbar.
Luckily for Rashford that wasn’t to be his final chance. He managed to round off the scoring nicely after a fantastic run, squeezing through the Armagh defence before sending his finish under the keeper, to give United a 3 – 0 win.
United will play their third and final game of the group stages against CSKA Moscow on Wednesday 30 July at 20:00 in the Brandywell Stadium.
