Movement on and off the ball is full of energy. One big criticism of David Moyes’ Manchester United was that the team was very pedestrian in and out of possession but against Inter Milan, United were excellent.
Without possession, United really put under Inter Milan under pressure and never gave them too much time and space on the ball which forced them to play at a higher tempo which suited United.
Louis van Gaal‘s passing training is paying off. Sometimes all you need is a video. Bring on next season.
We need more central midfielders. In the first half, United’s play through the middle was fantastic and the architect was Ander Herrera. His influence become most apparent after he was taken off because in his absence, United’s influence through the middle all but disappeared.
Every United fan knows Herrera was a great signing but it’s clear that he isn’t enough on his own.
Wilfried Zaha deserves more chances to prove himself. That was a positive performance from Zaha. He attacked the defenders and tried to make something happen whenever he could. His final ball wasn’t up to scratch but he certainly did good for himself in front of Van Gaal.
Don’t mess with Louis van Gaal.
Playing against Nemanja Vidic is strange. “It was strange playing against friends I played with for so many years. I’m glad it was only a friendly.” Vidic after the full time whistle summed it up perfectly. Without European football, at least United won’t play against him next year.
