Jonny Evans – Just like Jones, Evans has adapted well to the new 3-5-2 formation and Van Gaal loves a ball playing centre-back.
Michael Keane – Toss up between Keane and Blackett. Either could start.
Antonio Valencia – Keane is the only alternative to Valencia at right wing-back but Van Gaal seems to like the power and pace that Valencia offers.
Luke Shaw – He’ll be desperate to impress after Van Gaal’s comments about his fitness and the Dutchman will want to see how he responds.
Ander Herrera – A given. Settled in very well with United and has immediately had a great impact.
Darren Fletcher – Another midfielder who has had some strong performances. Could be captain again.
Juan Mata – Has quickly become very influential under Van Gaal in his natural No.10 position.
Danny Welbeck – Van Gaal will want Welbeck over Hernandez because of his ability to get involved in more of the play.
Wayne Rooney – Like Herrera, a dead cert to start. Has been one of the best players on tour.
