By this point, a lot of Manchester United fans have grown frustrated by the protracted transfer of Arturo Vidal as it has become the saga of the summer already, with no indications that a resolution is just around the corner.
Today, fresh reports claim movement is happening behind the scenes.
Chilean newspaper La Tercera have a report whereby they say Vidal is waiting on his ‘imminent’ transfer to Manchester United. ‘Imminent’ has become a bit of a buzzword this summer and doesn’t necessarily mean a move is on the verge of being completed. They also talk about how Vidal has invested in developments back in Chile to help local communities.
Elsewhere, Turin based newspaper La Stampa report that Vidal wants to join Manchester United and Juventus are simply waiting on the right offer to come in. They also say Vidal’s agent Felicevich is expected in Turin this weekend to speak with Juventus CEO Guiseppe Marotta and place a price of €40m on the Chilean midfielder. Valuations placed on Vidal have varied between £30-60m this summer, depending where you have read them.
Chilean newspaper El Mercurio are reporting that Felicevich has travelled to the UK to discuss a move for Gary Medel, one of his other clients, and will also discuss Vidal with United. Reports of talks with Juventus over Vidal have been in the press all week but not United talks.
Meanwhile, Marotta spoke about Vidal’s potential exit at the unveiling of Juventus’ new player Romulo Caldero. “He’s never been available on the market,” Marotta said.
“The will of the player is crucial, he never expressed his desire to leave. Juventus is not a selling club. If a player asks to leave, he needs to do it in logical times. Now we are starting a tour and there is only a month before the end of the transfer market window, there aren’t the conditions.”
With Juventus going on tour next week, the next step in this particular saga is to see whether Vidal is part of the travelling squad. If he isn’t, expect the already rife speculation will be intensified.
