Juventus have announced their 28-man squad for a pre-season tour of Asia and Manchester United target Arturo Vidal is part of the travelling team.
Speculation has been rife this week that Vidal’s absence from the tour would be a prelude to an impending exit from the Serie A champions but the reality is that although it is likely to delay any potential deal to bring the Chilean to Old Trafford, Vidal going on tour does not completely put an end to it.
Here is the Juventus squad in full for the tour.
1 Buffon, 30 Storari , 34 Rubinho, 77 Audero
19 Bonucci, 16 Motta, 4 Caceres, 3 Chiellini, 5 Ogbonna, 39 Marrone, 43 Blanco
26 Lichtsteiner, 2 Romulo, 21 Pirlo, 8 Marchisio. 23 Vidal, 20 Padoin, 6 Pogba , 37 Pereyra, 33 Evra, 22 Asamoah, 7 Pepe, 24 Vitale
14 Llorente. 10 Tevez, 12 Giovinco, 11 Coman, 36 Buenacasa
As with any move for a player, United would deal directly with Juventus and Vidal’s representatives prior to discussing terms with the player himself, so the Chilean going on tour wouldn’t hinder negotiations in the early stages.
From United’s perspective, Vidal going away on tour to work intensely on his fitness may not even be the worst thing in the world because it would at least give him a chance to continue rehabilitation on his knee, something that could give United a better insight into the condition of his knee prior to any potential move.
