Robin van Persie has returned to pre-season training today back at Carrington and can’t wait for the new season to begin.
The Dutchman missed Manchester United’s US Tour as Louis van Gaal gave him an extended break following Holland’s World Cup campaign that saw them reach the semi-final but Van Persie is now back in action.
On an individual training program under the guidance of Van Gaal’s staff, Van Persie will be working on his fitness ahead of the season opener against Swansea but Van Gaal has made it clear he doesn’t expect Van Persie to be fit in time for that game.
Regardless of whether Van Persie features against Swansea, it’s clear how pumped up for the season the Dutchman is.
“Back in training today after a short break. Looking forward to the new season sooo much!! Hope you all feeling the same,” Van Persie said on Twitter.
Back at the end of last season, Van Persie nailed his colours to the mast in an interview with MUTV.
Did Van Persie already know that Van Gaal was going to take the job? He was certainly confident that last season was an anomaly and because of how United have played in this pre-season, every fan now shares that same confidence.
