Manchester United’s Robin van Persie is celebrating turning 31 today with his family up in Manchester just shy of two years since he moved to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman might have been off form last season under David Moyes but there are high hopes he can return to his best form under Louis van Gaal.
Van Persie will be in great spirits on his birthday after what has been a fantastic summer for him with Holland’s run to the World Cup semi-final followed by an extended holiday from football where he was able to recuperate ahead of the new season.
As is customary for any United player, Van Persie was given the world’s worst birthday cake by the club.
“Thanks for the beautiful B-day cake from my favourite ladies”
Luckily, United made sure to avoid a Yaya Toure scenario by also sending a birthday message out to Van Persie.

Van Persie thanked United fans for their birthday messagesand by the looks of it, his kids are doing their best Van Persie impressions of his goal against Spain.
This week, Van Persie returned to training and if he can fitness back up again, there’s every chance he could make a surprise appearance on the bench against Swansea.
