Sporting Lisbon chairman Bruno de Carvalho has told the press that the Portuguese club are yet to receive any bids for William Carvalho, reports Sky Sports.
Carvalho, 22, was watched by David Moyes’ scouts on more than a dozen occasions last season and United seemed to be in the driving seat in a move for him, with reports towards the end of the year even suggesting a deal was already agreed in principle to bring Carvalho, who had a €45m release clause, to Old Trafford.
However, the Carvalho trail has quietened to a whisper with United, amid speculation of interest from Arsenal but De Carvalho has denied any offers for the midfielder.
He said: ”There were proposals for Rojo and Slimani, but the values are below what Sporting legitimately want for the players.
“For William, there are no proposals.”
The midfielder himself left the door open for a potential move after the World Cup with ambiguous comments regarding his future and with United‘s need for a combative midfielder, a move for the 22-year-old seemed a strong possibility. However, Sporting’s boss has denied any proposals had been received.
