Manchester United’s move for Marcos Rojo has continued to gather pace and Gianluca Di Marzio has now reported that the Argentinian has closed a deal to join United in a €20m deal which will also see Nani go back to Sporting Lisbon on loan.
Rojo, 24, has been at the centre of a complicated negotiation process thanks to 75% of his economic rights being owned by third party Doyen Sports but Di Marzio suggests the deal has now been completed and Rojo will be in Manchester tomorrow.
Di Marzio was the first reporter to break the story of Patrice Evra’s protracted move to Juventus and with the likes of The Times and The Guardian all reporting a deal for Rojo was very close this morning, the Argentinian could be unveiled by United this week.
Yesterday, Rojo apologised to Sporting’s fans via their official TV channel for trying to force a move to United: “I was hot-headed and I’m sorry. I’ll be back with the rest of the squad tomorrow.”
“Sporting signed me when I was not at my best and gave me the opportunity to play for a big club in Europe. I would like to thank the trust they had in me and I will resume training on Monday.”
However, it will have been nothing more than a peaceful goodbye if Di Marzio is correct that he will be in Manchester tomorrow to complete a move.
