Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Angel di Maria is leaving Real Madrid this summer and has already said his goodbyes to his team-mates.
Speaking at a press conference this afternoon, Ancelotti insisted nothing has been officially completed yet but his move is being resolved in the very near future: “He’s said his goodbyes. Di Maria has not trained. Its not yet official, but he is close to transfer. We thanked him for what he has done.”
Gianluca Di Marzio reports that Di Maria will board a plane to Manchester today but as Ancelotti has confirmed a deal has not yet been finalised, talks are likely to be ongoing with regards to Di Maria’s price tag.
Reports this morning suggest Real Madrid are holding out for £75m for the Argentinian winger and United are unlikely to pay such a high price, meaning that a compromise will have to be found.
However, one thing is for certain – Di Maria is leaving Madrid this summer and United are in pole position to sign him.
