Manchester United have confirmed the signing of Real Madrid winger Angel di Maria for a Premier League record £59.7m.
Di Maria joins United on a five-year deal that will see him stay at Old Trafford until he is 31.
The Argentinian winger becomes United’s fourth signing of what has been a record breaking summer of spending and more transfers are expected before the end of the window in six days.
Di Maria could make his United debut this weekend against Burnley.
Some critics had questioned whether United’s ability to sign the world’s best players had diminished due to a lack of Champions League football this year but Di Maria’s arrival proves that isn’t the case.
The psychological impact of Di Maria’s arrival on the team will be substantial and United fans now can’t wait to see Di Maria in action in a United shirt.
