Daley Blind‘s agent Rob Jansen has told talkSPORT there has been no contact with Manchester United over a deal to bring the Dutchman to Old Trafford.
Commenting on the current rumours surrounding United transfers, Andy Mitten revealed United scouts in Holland were confident a deal for Blind has already been done.
However, Jansen has denied any such deal has already taken place: “At this moment Manchester United have not been in touch with me or Ajax about Daley and I’m not sitting here waiting for the call,” Jansen told talkSPORT.
As Mitten reiterated, the chatter a deal was already done was amongst scouts and word had not come from the club but it’s interesting to hear Jansen denying any contact whatsoever.
Of course, Louis van Gaal is confident a deal to bring any player to Old Trafford can be done within 24 hours and United do have to move swiftly with so little time left this summer.
As for a move for Blind, Ajax boss Frank de Boer does believe Blind deserves a move to a big club if he leaves.
“I’m convinced he will make the right choice,” De Boer said.
“If he goes to a big club, he deserves it but I thnk it is better to stay at Ajax for one more year. Last year he had a good year and I still think he can improve a lot with Ajax.
“It’s difficult to say no when clubs come with a big bag of money so it is almost impossible. Sometimes also, you need to give the players the opportunity to go as sometimes the train only passes once but we won’t let him go for free, that is for sure.”
Contrasting reports are two a penny with regards to United and transfers this summer as the club’s pursuit of Arturo Vidal has shown but with less than a week left in the transfer window, it won’t be long before there is clarification on United and Blind.
