Predicted XI: MK Dons vs Manchester United – LVG to give youth a chance

by Sam Peoples

Sam Johnstone – Louis van Gaal is set to give United’s youngsters a big chance to impress against MK Dons, including young goalkeeper Sam Jonstone.

Tom Thorpe – Tom deserves a chance more than most. United’s Under-21s captain could be just as impressive as Tyler Blackett if given the opportunity.

Jonny Evans – Having recently come back to training, a match like this could prove vital for Evans’ fitness.

Reece James –  Has strangely been left out following an impressive pre-season tour but should start in this match.

Phil JonesOne of the season’s best performers so far. Will continue to improve the more games he plays.

Marnick Vermijl – Like Thorpe, has more than earned his chance with the first-team.

Darren Fletcher – Poor game against Sunderland but his experience would be crucial in a young side.

Nick Powell – United fans are desperate to see Powell given a chance with the first team and this is as good an opportunity as you’ll get.

Shinji Kagawa – The Japanese playmaker needs match time and will surely feature against MK Dons in some capacity.

James Wilson – Having trained with the first-team last week, Wilson is ready to shine and just needs the platform.

Robin van Persie – Needs match time to get fully fit.
