No sooner than Manchester United have all but completed a £59.7m deal to bring Angel di Maria to Old Trafford, reports linking Arturo Vidal with a move have gathered pace once again.
ESPN suggest United’s focus has now switched to Vidal as Louis van Gaal is pushing for the deal to go through and the fact he named Vidal twice in his post-match press conferences, regardless of the tone, has seen the links burst back into life since.
Vidal, 27, has been the talk of the town among United fans all summer long and as the Chilean has continued to be non-committal about his future in Turin, there is a confidence a deal can be done at the right price.
Prior to any deal for Vidal, there was a worry United would be priced out of a move but if £60m could be spent on Di Maria, it indicates the club is ready and able to spend big in order to secure the right players.
Something which could strongly work in United’s favour is Juventus being interested in signing Javier Hernandez as it would give the club a bargaining chip in any deal for Vidal.
Once the deal for Di Maria is finalised, United have very little time left to buy players but with the money clearly there, it’s a case of United making a move for Vidal if he is the player Van Gaal wants to transform his midfield.
