Louis van Gaal believes Angel di Maria is ready to make his debut for Manchester United in this weekend’s fixture against Burnley.
Di Maria completed a £59.7m move to United from Real Madrid this week and could go straight into the side to face Burnley which will be a real boost for United to have him playing straight away.
“I think he is ready to play,” Van Gaal told reporters at his press conference this afternoon.
However, Marcos Rojo will have to wait for his United debut because the 24-year-old hasn’t been given a work permit yet due to complications with Sporting Lisbon about his ownership.
When asked about Rojo’s permit, Van Gaal said: “It’s only a matter of time. I’m manager of the biggest club in the world, but I can’t change the law!”
United’s defence could really have been improved by the inclusion of Rojo but until issues surrounding his work permit are resolved, he will be unable to play.
As for Di Maria, United fans will be excited to see the new No.7 in action and whether he can have an immediate impact after moving to a new country and league.
