Although Manchester United’s 0-0 draw with Burnley today was far from the perfect result, the silver lining was certainly the debut of new signing Angel di Maria.
Donning No.7 on his back, there was a real buzz of expectation around Di Maria in the hope he would be able to immediately adapt to the Premier League, and he didn’t disappoint.
United were lackluster on the whole but Di Maria was anything but unconvincing. The Argentinian showcased a great range of passing, lightning quick pace and a real eye for a defence splitting ball.
On more than one occasion, he passed a ball through the eye of the needle to find a team-mate in an advanced position but none were able to convert the chances he created.
Unfortunately, Di Maria had to be taken off as a precaution later on but it was a strong debut from the 26-year-old and a decent start to his career at United.
