Manchester United have agreed an €18m fee for Ajax defender Daley Blind, according to reports.
Daily Mirror’s David McDonnell insisted United were closing in on a €25m move for Blind last night in the print edition but the and Daily Mail’s Matt Lawton broke the news of an agreement for Blind soon after.
Lawton’s claims were then substantiated when De Telegraaf’s Mike Verweij reported the same news. For context, it should be noted that Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf was the first to break the story of Louis van Gaal taking over as United manager.
At the time of publishing, De Telegraaf have not yet released a print or press digital of the story, so it is impossible to judge whether they are quoting their own sources or the Daily Mail. However, the contrast, the Daily Mail has quoted De Telegraaf as a ‘complete’ source
Blind was part of Louis van Gaal‘s Holland side that secured third place at the World Cup which, means he is would be accustomed to Van Gaal’s ways, something which would play into his hands for any move.
