Shinji Kagawa has rejoined Borussia Dortmund in an €8m deal according to Bild in Germany.
Bild report the Japanese playmaker signed a four-year contract at a ‘secret location in Dortmund’ and the deal has been agreed this afternoon.
Kagawa has struggled ever since he moved to United and was never able to cement his place in the first-team under either Sir Alex Ferguson or David Moyes and the writing was on the wall for Kagawa after comments from Louis van Gaal.
“Kagawa did not wish to fulfil my wishes, my philosophy when I played him in the United States,” Van Gaal said.
“Kagawa was a No.10 at [Borussia] Dortmund but I want to try him at No. 6 and No. 8.”
There was a palpable buzz over the signing of Kagawa back in 2012 but he was never able to replicate his devastating Bundesliga form in England. It’s a real shame it didn’t work out for him at Old Trafford.
As for Dortmund, they have secured a phenomenal deal re-signing Kagawa for €8m as he will likely flourish again for Jurgen Klopp’s side once again.
