Manchester United youngster Nick Powell is set for a deadline day loan switch away from the club, with newly promoted Leicester City thought to be keen on a deal.
Powell joined United two years ago from Crewe Alexandra but has made only two Premier League appearances and scored one goal for the club.
The 20-year-old spent last season on-loan at Championship side Wigan Athletic and despite gaining experience in the Europa League for the Latics, United would prefer him to spend this term at a top-flight club.
The Foxes interest in Powell, who has represented England at every level from Under-16 through to Under-21 level, gathered pace over the weekend as they missed out on Wigan midfielder James McArthur, who is now thought to join Crystal Palace.
Powell started in United’s 4-0 League Cup defeat at MK Dons, before being replaced by James Wilson in the second half.
