No Manchester United could have expected they’d get to see Angel Di Maria and Falcao play together at Old Trafford this season.
Coming off the back of the club’s worst ever Premier League campaign, there was doubt over who United would be able to attract without the pull of European football.
But in the final two weeks of the window, United agreed deals for Real Madrid’s Di Maria and Falcao on an initial one-year loan from AS Monaco.
Both deals were phenomenal pieces of business but Di Maria is particularly seen as a real coup given his importance to Madrid’s team last season and his performance in their Champions League final triumph.
Meanwhile, Falcao seemed set for a move to either the Spanish giants or United’s local rival Manchester City and it only came to light there was a possibility the Colombian would be moving to Old Trafford on the morning of deadline day.
The 28-year old has 200 goals in 305 career appearances and United fans have every reason to be excited by one of the most lethal goal scorers teaming up with one of the most creative players in world football, and Falcao is equally as excited.
“Angel is a fantastic footballer, I admire him a lot, and I’m excited to share team with him as well with the other players,” Falcao said.
There should be no questions that the two can play together and if they can replicate the sort of form that earned them a move to Old Trafford, United will be scoring goals galore very soon. Combining one of the world’s best finishers with one of the world’s most creative players could create one of the most devastating partnerships in Premier League history.
