Speaking to the Spanish press, De Gea revealed the latest update on Herrera’s injury and it would be a timely boost for United ahead of QPR.
Without Herrera in the squad, United have lacked any real presence in the midfield as Darren Fletcher has been unable to marshal the midfield on his own.
“He’s not 100 per cent but for the next game he will be ready,” De Gea said.
Herrera hasn’t been able to fully settle down at United so far but with the addition of Daley Blind into the squad, he could form a partnership with the Dutchman that would finally bring some stability and genuine quality to United’s midfield.
As well as discussing Herrera, De Gea was questioned about his new Spanish speaking team-mate Angel di Maria and said he was delighted to be a United player.
“He’s delighted to be there and is very excited,” he added.
“We try not to talk to him about Real Madrid and focus on United.”
