This summer was always going to be a major one for Manchester United. After the failures of last year under David Moyes, substantial changes were likely to happen but few could have expected just how widespread they would be.
A total of 17 players left United in some capacity this summer. Nine players left permanently including Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and the retiring Ryan Giggs while the likes of Nani, Tom Cleverley, Javier Hernandez and Wilfried Zaha all left on loan.
All in all, it was the busiest summer the club has ever had and one which has well and truly marked the beginning of a new era.
NB – There may be some errors (Rafael being blacked out instead of Fabio as well as some remaining coaching staff) but the sentiment remains the same.
This is a new United squad under a new United manager in Louis van Gaal and the cobwebs of the Sir Alex Ferguson era which lingered last season under David Moyes have been almost completely swept away by the Dutchman.
The new era starts now.
