Luke Shaw in contention for Manchester United’s game against QPR

Luke Shaw is in line to make his Manchester United debut at Old Trafford against QPR this weekend according to reports.

The 19-year-old has played no part in United’s season so far after suffering a hamstring injury but is closing in on his return after taking part in full training this week back at Carrington.

It’s not been the best of starts for Shaw’s United career so far but QPR could be a turning point for him if he is available for selection.

In Shaw’s absence, United have played the likes of Jesse Lingard and Ashley Young at left wing-back but neither has been able to fill the role properly, so Shaw’s return would be a real boost for United.

Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind are also capable of playing at left-back but Louis van Gaal is likely to want to use them in their more natural centre-back and defensive midfield positions.

Van Gaal is unlikely to play Shaw if he doesn’t feel he is fully fit so as not to risk further injury but after taking part in full training this week, the 19-year-old sounds ready to make his full competitive debut for United at Old Trafford.
