Juventus officials have confirmed that Arturo Vidal has returned to South America with a thigh problem.
The Chilean midfielder had allayed fears earlier this week his knee injury had flared up again and insisted he was in great shape.
“The ice that I used the other day was a normal thing. I only need time to get back to 100 per cent,” he said when questioned about fitness.
“Rest assured, my knee is okay. I am ready to return to Turin.
“Even with Mexico, I showed that I can play every game this season with Juventus. I feel great.
“I’ll have to be at one hundred percent, but I’ve proved that I can play a full game without any problems.”
However, this latest injury is another setback on his road to fully recovering from surgery on his knee.
We’ll be keeping a check on Vidal’s progress throughout the season because the possibility of United making a move for the Chilean midfielder in January is there, so it will be interesting to see how he progresses after his recent injuries.
