Phil Jones an injury doubt for Man Utd’s game against QPR

Phil Jones could be missing from Manchester United’s game due to a hamstring injury he suffered on international duty with England.

Jones underwent a scan on the problem yesterday to check the severity of the injury and at this stage he is a major doubt for Sunday.

Louis van Gaal is expected to give an update on Jones’ fitness either at either this afternoon’s press conference or tomorrow.

United have had a terrible start to the season when it comes to injuries and it will be a particular blow to Jones if he is sidelined because of how well he has played.

Jones has been United’s best defender so far in the Premier League and has enjoyed playing regular football as a centre-back but injuries have been a real problem for him up until this point in his career.

It has been a case of one step forward and two steps back for Jones at United because injuries are stopping him making real progress but hopefully his withdrawal from England’s game against Switzerland was precautionary and he can be make in action sooner rather than later.
