Marcos Rojo already making a great impression at Man Utd

Marcos Rojo had a very understated Manchester United debut. The likes of Angel di Maria and Daley Blind hogged the spotlight but Rojo was composed and measured at left-back in what was an impressive debut.

Fans are hoping Rojo can be an experienced head in United’s defence this season despite being just 24 and a mature performance, albeit against QPR, showed that could be the case.

But it’s sometimes the small things that make a difference and some fantastic footage from after the final whistle is testament to that.

Adnan Januzaj was downbeat after an ineffective cameo appearance from the bench, so Rojo did his best to cheer him up.

It’s these sorts of things which cameras don’t usually pick up but they can make all the difference in the mindset of a player. It certainly didn’t do any harm as Januzaj scored a hat-trick with United’s Under-21s the following night.

Rojo’s approach is in stark contrast to Rio Ferdinand who admitted he told an unnamed 19-year-old United player last year to ‘stop crying like a baby’ after being told he wasn’t going to play.
