Van Gaal says it’s possible Ronaldo could re-join Man United but doesn’t think Real Madrid would sell

Louis van Gaal has said it is possible Manchester United could re-sign Cristiano Ronaldo next summer but doesn’t believe Real Madrid would be willing to sell.

Reports in the past few weeks have heavily linked Ronaldo with a return to Old Trafford after suggestions the Portuguese attacker is frustrated with life in Madrid.

Following a record summer spend of £150m, United have shown they are ready to compete for the best players in the world and rumours linking Ronaldo will now continue to gather pace.

Speaking to reporters, Van Gaal said: “It’s always a discussion in the papers and I don’t think the media shall buy Ronaldo.

“I have always said with Falcao and players like Ronaldo, they give a lot extra to a selection or a team but I don’t think Real Madrid shall sell.”

This is not the first time Van Gaal has discussed Ronaldo by name as he did so earlier in the summer alongside Angel di Maria before the Argentinian moved to Old Trafford.

Will Ronaldo come back to United? Given the summer United have had, you can’t rule anything out.
