Manchester United’s popular right-back Rafael Da Silva has declared he wants to stay at Old Trafford for the rest of his career.
Speaking to United’s official website, Rafael said he would be happy to stay at the club ‘forever’ after being reminded he’s now one of the longest-serving defenders despite being the tender age of 24.
Having been at United since he was 18, Rafael has worked his way through the ranks to where he is today and has no intention of leaving any time soon.
“I am glad but sad because a lot of friends have left,” Rafael said when asked about his role following the departures of Ferdinand, Vidic and Evra.
“I am glad I am still here. I want to keep going and stay here forever, if possible. It depends on me to play well, I need to play well. I just want to stay here.”
There was much doubt over the future of the right-back under David Moyes and newspaper rumours continued about a possible departure when Louis van Gaal arrived in the summer but the fans favourite is back in the first XI now and says he is looking forward to being part of a new era at Old Trafford.
He added: “I want to win the league again and I want us to get the winning way back. Then everything will be like it’s always been at this club.”
