The 18-year-old has been added to United’s first-team by Louis van Gaal and was on the bench for QPR last weekend but with his current deal set to expire, the possibility of him leaving does currently exist as he is free to speak to club’s
Reports suggest United could face a similar scenario to the likes of Paul Pogba and Mats Moller Daehli in that Pereira could follow in their footsteps and leave the club.
Both players left in order to achieve more first-team opportunities away from United (and in the case of Pogba, money ads well), so there has been a fear their departures could create a domino effect of United’s talent leaving the club too early.
However, in this scenario Pereira’s future looks more likely to be at Old Trafford than elsewhere. This season, he has made some fantastic progress which has seen him rewarded with a call-up to Brazil’s Under-20s and United’s first-team squad, so Van Gaal clearly sees something in him or he wouldn’t be part of United’s first-team squad.
There are still a few months before the January transfer window opens and as Van Gaal was serious enough about Pereira to include him in the match day squad, it will give Pereira the confidence to know he’ll get his opportunities are coming.
