Manchester United fell to a 5-3 defeat at Leicester City during a game changed by a controversial decision to award the home side a penalty when the visitors were 3-1 up and in control.
After it appeared Jamie Vardy had initially fouled Rafael, the referee awarded a penalty when Rafael appeared to nudge Vardy over seconds later.
Robin van Persie, Angel Di Maria and Ander Herrera had given United a 3-1 lead but Nugent’s penalty gave the hosts the impetuous to pull of a superb comeback and United’s day was topped off when Tyler Blackett was given a straight red for conceding a second penalty on a dreadful afternoon for the reds.
Esteban Cambiasso had equalised almost immediately after the penalty before more poor defending allowed Jamie Vardy to put Leicester into a 4-3 lead before a second penalty finished the game off.
