Man United prepared to sell Juan Mata to help Miranda deal – report

by Sam Peoples

Manchester United are willing to part with Juan Mata in order to help sign Atletico Madrid’s Miranda in January, according to The Express.

The reports suggest if Mata is considered surplus to requirements at United then Louis van Gaal would potentially include him in a move to help broker a deal for the £24m rated Miranda.

Atetico’s Miranda was heavily linked with a move to United in the summer but a move never materialised in a similar fashion to Ezequiel Garay and Mats Hummels.

However, United are likely to be active in the January market to bring in reinforcements and Miranda’s name is once again being linked with United but would they be prepared to let Mata leave?

The long and short answer is that it would be a big surprise if United were happy to let Mata leave the club.

He has been growing into his role as the No.10 playmaker with some impressive performances and with eight goals in his last 12 appearances, he has proved that he can deliver.

Shinji Kagawa was sold by Van Gaal this year as the Dutchman wanted to streamline down the squad so it would come as a surprise if the Dutchman wanted to sell another No.10 given how important the role is to his philosophy.

Mata might not be the guaranteed starter many feel he is at United but fans would be shocked if Van Gaal decided to ship him out of the club so soon.
