Robin van Persie continued on his road to regaining full fitness by taking part in Manchester United training this week.
The Dutchman scored his first goal of the season in the 5-3 defeat to Leicester City last weekend but is yet to hit the sort of form which made him so devastating back in his debut campaign at Old Trafford in 2012.
Van Persie’s fitness this summer peaked in the group stages of the World Cup and since then he hasn’t been able to regain full match sharpness.
However, with more minutes and now a goal under his belt, United fans are hoping to see him get back to his best soon if Louis van Gaal is to continue starting him up front.
Speaking to MUTV earlier today, Van Persie insisted United were ready for the game on Saturday and had put the defeat to Leicester City in the past: “We’ve had a good few sessions now and everyone’s feeling very positive now ahead of the game against West Ham. Everyone’s on the same page.”
