Luke Shaw named in England Under-21s for European Championship qualifiers

Luke Shaw has been named in England’s Under-21s squad alongside Michael Keane and Sam Johnstone for their European Championship qualifiers.

Shaw returned from injury against West Ham last weekend to make his full debut for Manchester United but Roy Hodgson has decided to ease him back into action by letting him play in the less intense environment of the Under-21s to regain his full match fitness.

It’s not the worst thing in the world for Shaw as he’ll be able to train away from the prying eyes and pressure of the first team which could end up being very good for his rehabilitation.

Goalkeeper Johnstone has returned from injury to take a place in the squad and Keane, who is currently on loan at Burnley, also takes up his spot in the squad.

There is no space for Wilfried Zaha in the side nor Tyler Blackett and the latter’s absence will come as a real surprise unless he is named in England’s senior side that will be announced later today.
