We continue our potential formation series for Manchester United’s upcoming game against Everton with a look at another personnel variation of the 4-4-2 diamond that sees Adnan Januzaj get his first start of the season.
Ander Herrera‘s injury means United need somebody to step into the central midfield role and our suggestion of Darren Fletcher yesterday was met by plenty of criticism by those of you who didn’t feel he was capable of filling the gap left behind by the Spaniard.
The inclusion of Januzaj would be brave and very bold from Louis van Gaal as well as being a vote of confidence in Januzaj that would really boost his morale.
After four goals in two games for the Under-21s including a hat-trick and a stunning free-kick, Januzaj is bang on form but whether that means he could translate that to the Premier League is a different matter altogether.
One thing to note about this formation is that there are so many left footed players in it and Van Gaal likes to have a balance within his starting XI, so that might not sit well with him.
What do you think? Does Januzaj have the temperament and ability to play as a central midfielder?
