Louis van Gaal has given an update on Manchester United’s current injury situation to give us a clearer indication of who will start against Everton on Sunday.
Patrick McNair is set to start once again alongside Marcos Rojo as Van Gaal doesn’t want to have two left footed centre backs. That being said, there was no mention at all of Tom Thorpe which was strange.
However, central midfield is where the question mark remains and the return of Michael Carrick and Marouane Fellaini to training could give United some other options but neither are likely to start if they are involved in the squad.
We’ve taken a look at how Darren Fletcher and Ben Pearson could line up alongside Angel di Maria but what about Adnan Januzaj?
He’d certainly have the passing range of Ander Herrera as well as the energy to get himself about. It would be a bold move by Van Gaal after his comments about United needing to defend from the front but he’s already shown he’s not afraid to take risks.
Is this formation too attack minded or can Januzaj do a job in a central midfield role?
