Daley Blind has settled down very quickly at Manchester United and thanked Robin van Persie for helping him from the beginning.
Team-mates at the World Cup with Holland under Louis van Gaal, Blind and Van Persie struck up an on the pitch partnership that was sparked by Blind’s wonderful pass to Robin for his spectacular header against Spain.
Compatriots can make a big difference for players arriving at a new club in a foreign country and just like David de Gea helped Juan Mata, Van Persie has taken his time to make sure Blind feels at home right away at United.
“He has helped me lots,” he told De Telegraaf.
“He told where to put my shoes and all those little things you need to know when you’re new.
“I imagine it can be difficult if you do not have someone to help you at a new club.”
All of United’s summer signings have acclimatised to their new surroundings very well just like Blind.
This is a very new look United side after £150m worth of investment but with players settling down so quickly, it is already beginning to take shape.
