Robin van Persie and Arjen Robben were the only two players who withdrew from Holland training yesterday which raised concerns it could be a precautionary move due to injury.
Voetbal International reports the pair took part in training for half an hour before going inside away from the main squad who continued with the session.
There has been no official word as of yet from the Holland national team and following a slow start to the campaign for Van Persie, it does raise concerns he is still struggling with his fitness.
The 31-year-old has slowly been improving with every match he plays but is still a shadow of the 2012/13 striker who was so prolific in front of goal for United in his title winning debut season with the club.
With Holland having important qualifiers against Kazakhstan and Iceland in the space of four days, Louis van Gaal will no doubt be concerned that Guus Hiddink could use Van Persie for the full 180 minutes even if not fully fit, something which would put him at risk of further injury.
At this stage the reasons behind Van Persie withdrawing from training aren’t yet known but United fans will certainly be hoping it isn’t because the Dutchman’s injuries are flaring up once again.
