David de Gea starts first ever competitive match for Spain

Vicente Del Bosque has given David de Gea his first ever competitive start for Spain tonight in their Euro 2016 qualifier against Luxembourg.

Iker Casillas was once again at fault for the goals in Spain’s shock 2-1 defeat to Slovakia so Del Bosque has decided now is the time for De Gea to step in.

Here is the full Spain starting XI:

De Gea, Carvajal, Pique, Bartra, Alba, Busquets, Koke, Iniesta, Silva, Alcácer, Diego Costa

It’s absolutely fantastic news for De Gea and is a richly deserved moment for him in his career.

At the age of just 23, De Gea is starting for his national team and is the undisputed No.1 of Manchester United. That’s an incredible achievement.
