Ashley Young working his way back to full fitness in training

Ashley Young has been working hard back in training as he edges closer to a return to full fitness.

The Manchester United midfielder hasn’t played since August thanks to a groin injury but is now stepping up his rehabilitation after taking part in light training last week.

United haven’t particularly missed having Young in the squad as the 4-4-2 diamond formation doesn’t encourage much natural width from midfield but it won’t be long before he is back and available for selection.

Young uploaded a picture of himself after training this afternoon with the caption: ‘The Hard Work Never Stops #mufc.’

During the pre-season, Young was one of the biggest surprises as he flourished in Louis van Gaal‘s new system but he has since been unable to build on those performances.

When he does return to fitness, Young has got his work cut out to get a spot back in Van Gaal’s side because the competition for places is now fierce.
