There was plenty of excitement surrounding the name Radamel Falcao during the build-up to deadline day, albeit not for Manchester United.
Rumours had persisted for weeks that Falcao would go to Real Madrid or Manchester City, the Colombian even sent out a tweet regarding a move to Madrid before later deleting it.
But when it became clear in the early hours of deadline day that United had trumped everyone for the striker, there was a wave of excitement over United signing one of the best strikers in the world. Understandably so, Falcao’s prolific strike record since moving to Europe is nothing short of phenomenal, and so is his chant.
It didn’t take long for the Old Trafford faithful to adopt the Colombian’s ‘Lo lo lo lo Falcao’ chant endeared to him by Atletico Madrid’s fans after his time spent in Spain and Falcao is filled with pride at hearing it sung by United’s fans.
Speaking to a reporter on his home continent, Falcao said: “The love they are showing me, my name sounds like thunder at the stadium, it is something that fills me with pride.”
The roof was nearly ripped off Old Trafford when Falcao finally broke his duck against Everton last weekend after a few frustrating games where the lethal striker failed to hit the back of the net.
Falcao’s chant might have echoed off the terraces at Old Trafford plenty of times already this season but expect to hear it a hell of a lot more if the Colombian can start finding his goalscoring boots on a regular basis.
