Robin van Persie’s headed goal against Spain in the World Cup has been chosen by the Dutch public as the television moment of the year.
From Daley Blind‘s pin-point cross field pass, Van Persie took his chance early to lift his header over the advancing Iker Casillas to equalise for the Netherlands.
Van Persie’s goal was the start of an unbelievable match as the Netherlands followed their equaliser up with four more to beat Spain 5-1 and it was the prelude to their group stage exit from the World Cup.
Since returning from the summer, Van Persie is yet to hit his best form but Louis van Gaal is giving him every opportunity to regain his best form.
