The 19-year-old started against Chelsea and up against one of the Premier League’s most experienced right-backs in Branislav Ivanovic, he more than held his own.
Despite that, Neville believes the return of Wayne Rooney (so long as he isn’t injured) means Januzaj could find himself on the bench to accommodate in a game which is likely to be very physically tough.
“I’d imagine Rooney would come in,” Neville said.
“If anything Adnan Januzaj could come out due to the physicality of the game but I actually think he did alright (against Chelsea).”
If one of Juan Mata or Januzaj has to drop to the bench in order for Rooney and/or Falcao to come back into United’s side, it would be very harsh if it was Januzaj after his performance against Chelsea.
The physicality of the game shouldn’t be a problem for Januzaj who more than coped with Chelsea’s powerful approach and if Louis van Gaal wants to pick players who are on form, he should be keeping Januzaj in his starting XI.
Do you think Adnan Januzaj should start against Manchester City?
