Luke Shaw is confident Manchester United will be a force to be reckoned with once everything starts to click.
The 19-year-old had his best performance so far in a United shirt on Sunday against Chelsea and like so many other players, he is starting to settle in his new environment.
Other signings such as Radamel Falcao and Angel di Maria have also shown glimpses of their best form but when Louis van Gaal has his whole team singing from the same hymn sheet, Shaw feels opponents will be scared to play United.
“I don’t think we are playing our best at the moment and sometimes you saw that,” he said after the Chelsea draw.
“It will take time but, when we are all on form, I think we are going to be a scary team to face.
“Every game in the Premier League is hard but we’ve got to look forward to it this week. It’s a massive occasion for everyone involved in it.
“We’re all looking forward to it. We know what we need to do so we just need to focus on that during this week and come out firing on Sunday.
“The whole word watches it [the derby] – it’s one of the biggest occasions in football after the World Cups and Champions League finals. I’m sure everyone will be watching and we’re looking forward to it.”
Shaw is on the money when he said teams should be worried about what United can do when it all falls into place and Louis van Gaal summed it up perfectly earlier in October.
He said: “I’ve already told my players we aren’t playing good and we’ve already hit the top four, so what will happen when we’re playing well?”
A team with Rooney, Di Maria, Falcao, Van Persie, Herrera et al playing on top form together? That’s a side with title winning credential.
